To know and be known: A Parish Lenten Discipline

During Lent, we usually think about “what to give up?” but Lent is also a time to take on a new practice or discipline to strengthen one’s faith and sense of connection. This Lent, the parish is invited to enter into a shared Lenten discipline of helping Father Sawicky to get to know us, us know Father Sawicky, and hopefully getting to know others at the parish better in the process. There are several ways that you can participate in this practice.

Known by Name
There will be temporary name tag stations in the West End of the Church and Parish Hall during Lent. Please take a moment after Mass to write your name down and don a name tag. That way when you greet Father Sawicky he can begin to learn everyone’s name. It is also a good time to remind yourself of someone’s name that you should know and are too embarrassed to ask!

Known by Face
Parishioners are invited to log into Realm, the parish’s database, and upload a clear face photo of themselves, and if possible, family members, to help Father Sawicky begin to put names and faces together. These photos will only be used internally and not shared. If you need help having a photo taken and uploaded, someone will be available from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sundays to take your photo and it will upload to Realm on your behalf.

Known by Conversation

Father Sawicky will be hosting a series of small, informal, gatherings at the Rectory Parlor for parishioners to gather for a time to talk, share, and listen. Please select from the dates below to register for one of these gatherings. The number of participants for each gathering will be limited so folks can engage more easily and we ask that you please only sign up for one session so more people can participate.

Our goal is that the parish is intentional over Lent in welcoming and getting to know Father Sawicky and to building a strong sense of connection in the parish.
