Upcoming at Saint Mark's

20s/30s Soup Making Gatherings, Thursdays in April at 6:30 p.m.
During the month of April, members of the 20s/30s are invited to join in making soup for the Saturday Soup Bowl.  Thanks to a generous donation, Saint Mark’s will cover the cost of all soup ingredients, so all you need to bring is yourself (and perhaps a beverage to share!) A sign-up has been mailed out, please contact Ellen Doster for more details.  To be added to the 20s/30s mailing list, please contact Matt Fischetti.

The Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist: Pontifical High Mass with Confirmation and Reception, Wednesday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
The Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist is the patronal feast of this parish.  We celebrate with a Solemn High Mass, at which Bishop Daniel Gutierrez will celebrate and preach.  The bishop will also confirm and receive new members into the Episcopal Church.  A festive potluck reception will follow in the Parish Hall.  Please bring a main dish, side, or dessert to share with others, and drop them off in the kitchen before Mass if you can.

20s/30s Simple Supper, May 1 at 6:30 p.m.
The Saint Mark’s 20s/30s will combine with the 20s/30s of Saint Peter’s for a potluck supper in the Parish Hall.  Father Sean Lanigan, Associate Rector of Saint Peter's, will lead us in a discussion of Scripture.  To be added to the 20s/30s mailing list to receive more details, please contact Matt Fischetti.

Choral Evensong and Benediction, May 6 at 4 p.m.
Join us for a sung liturgy of prayers, scripture, and music offered by the Combined Choirs of Saint Mark's. Benediction is a time for adoration of the mystery of Our Lord’s Real Presence in the Sacrament. The Canticles will be the Evening Service in F (Collegium Regale) by Harold Darke along with music of Gregor Aichinger, Stephen Caracciolo, Patrick Hadley, and Malcolm Archer.

Fernanda Guild Book Discussion, May 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Join the Fernanda Guild, on the Feast of Saint Julian, for a discussion of “God as Mother” from The Showings of Julian of Norwich recently translated by Mirabai Starr. A simple supper, like one Julian may have eaten, will be served. Questions or to RSVP contact Nancy Massey.

Choral High Mass for The Feast of the Ascension, Thursday, May 10 at 7 p.m.
Ascension Day is one of the major feasts of the church year, when we remember our Lord’s ascension to the right hand of the Father, where even now he reigns. Fr. Stephen Moore, who coordinates the Neighbor Care initiative, will be preaching. As part of Saint Mark’s Academy, we also celebrate the importance of all those volunteers (and a few staff, too) involved in worship-related ministries: the Altar Guild, Servers, Lectors, Ushers, those who officiate at the Daily Office, our Ministry Residents, and the Parish Choir. All those involved in these ministries are also invited to a supper immediately following the Mass to thank them for their hard work and commitment to this important aspect of the parish’s mission.
