Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist, Thursday, October 18
Saint Mark’s will keep the Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist with our usual schedule of Low Masses at 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.
Commemoration of All Faithful Departed, Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m.
On this evening, we remember all the faithful departed, and we pause to listen to the recitation of the names of our founders, benefactors, and those beloved of the congregation, whom you have asked us to remember. The liturgy is beautiful, ancient, and mostly sung. The Parish Choir will sing a setting of the Requiem Mass by Gabriel Fauré. The clergy are vested in traditional black vestments, and the Mass concludes with the absolution of the catafalque, a kind of stand-in for the countless souls we remember on this night. A letter has been mailed out requesting you to submit those names of your departed loved ones along with your memorial contributions to the Parish Office. Names and contributions can also be submitted to the Verger, Daniel Russell by noon on Tuesday, October 30.
Solemnity of All Saints & Font Re-Dedication, Sunday, November 4
Saint Mark’s will depart from our usual custom by keeping the Solemnity of All Saints on Sunday, November 4 while still observing All Saints’ Day on November 1 with our usual Low Masses. November 4 provides the perfect opportunity to re-dedicate the Font in its new central location in the West End of the church at the Solemn High Mass at 11 a.m. In addition to the re-dedication, we will have several baptisms. Father Andrew Kellner will be our guest preacher and the Choir of Boys and Girls will join the Parish Choir. Solemn Evensong & Benediction will be sung by the Parish Choir at 4 p.m. and the new Tabernacle will be dedicated during that liturgy. Please plan to come together to worship as a parish family on this happy day and to give thanks to God for all the saints!
