The Lost Sheep
St. Mark’s has an active group of people in their 20s and 30s called "The Lost Sheep", who gather for community, mutual support, learning and service.
Check out our Facebook Group "Young Saint Mark's"
For more information or to join the e-mail list, e-mail Andrew Ashcroft, the Curate at St. Mark's.
Potluck – On Sundays, 20s and 30s gather at the Curate’s house following the coffee hour after the 11 a.m. mass for a potluck dinner. People bring side dishes, a bottle of something or very small ($5) donations to cover the cost. The Curate lives at 1732 Spruce Street, Apt 1R.
Monthly
We have monthly gatherings on Wednesdays or Sundays at a The Black Sheep (17th just south of Locust Street) to hear talks and have a discussion on various issues related to faith.
Wednesday, February 10th at 7 p.m.
"Bishops: What they do besides wearing funny hats" – with Bishop Rodney Michel, Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of Pennsylvania. This will be a great opportunity to meet an honest-to-goodness bishop, hear a little about what he does and how he became a bishop, and get a chance to interact with him over a beer. Bishops are few and far between, don’t miss the opportunity to meet a real live one (he’s not scary or weirdly religious, I promise).
Sunday, March 7th at 1:30 p.m.
"Theology: What it is and why it is important" - with Dr. Aron Dunlap and Dr. Joshua Delpech-Ramey. Aron and Josh are both professors of religion, members of St. Mark's and members of The Black Sheep. They will give a basic introduction to theology and discuss why it is important for people of faith (or considering faith) to be familiar with theological language and concepts.
